fail blog times infinity

I truely do apologize for the huge lack in posts. It's been a strange few weeks in Katimavik life, so I guess that's my excuse.

Before I forget, here are some pictures.

Leigh-Amber 'defending herself' against Ryan

Cluster hangouts in Prince

Building Gingey houses @ Mik's Billet

I suppose I should give give you some shinfo too! Here goes;
(Holy shit. I haven't ACTUALLY posted since November 7th!)

So, since then, we've gone to Prince George again. This time it was for a self defense/martial arts class and we met up with Quesnel AND Prince George! So the only group we haven't seen so far is William's Lake. Anyways, the class was siiiiick. It was something like 4 hours of cardio and self defense. I had a blasty blast, and I'm pretty sure everyone else felt the same. Also, I KNOW that everyone felt the same way that I did in the morning... as if I were hit by a logger. It was super solid to finally get to see Quesnel. It seems that everyone is a lot happier when we're all together (mixed groups). Anyways, so the first picture is from during the class! Well, lunch break. Ryan and Leigh-Amber decided to fight, so they packed on the gear and went at it. In the end.. L-A ended up being destroyed, punch in the cheek, and laying on the floor for a few minuets.

The second picture, is of (mostly) the full Prince George, Quesnel and Vanderhoof groups. Man, that day was epic.

This Sunday (December 20), we went over to Mik's billet's house to decorate our HOME MADE gigney homes. Henceforth; Saturday night entailed making ginger bread, and all of Sunday afternoon was spent making house pieces and cooking them. After supper on Sunday, we wen tto their home, had an epic 1.5 hour decorating period, light candles on their Christmas tree and drank apple cider. Leigh-Amber, Fred and I we're on a team and chose the biggest house of all 5. We thought it would be clever and time efficient to decorate it before we put actually assembled the house. Needless to say, we were wrong, and had so much candy and icing on this chateau, that we ended up needing to take a powerdrill to it, and insert toothpicks. Not one word of a lie. See for yourself! (See third picture, duh)

Ahh, apparently the photos that I emailed myself from my laptop saved in a notepad file(by bad.) and as it is 1:00am on a work night, I am not spending the time to convert, upload, and add images to this pointless blog. Yes, you will get billeting pictures.. eventually. And yes, I will post more often.

Blogs to look forward to:

  • Billeting pictures/day by day explanation.
  • Katima-Christmas (first away from home)
  • New Years excursion!
Keep an eye out.

I'm off to bed. Miss and love you all tons.

Good night world.

kickin' it old skool.

Well well well.

I'm just hanging out here at McLeod Elementary, waiting for the lunch bell to ring. I've got about 18 minutes to go. So far this morning, I've printed, photocopied, sticky-tacked, prepped and even done a wee bit of seventh grade math. It's been a rather slow morning. However, this afternoon I'm working in StrongStart.

On Wednesday's, S.S is from 2:30-5:30 as aposed to 9:30-12:30. I love Wednesday's, as I always feel like I have a lot of time to prep things. Not that being a volunteer in a drop in center has been taking much prep, but I'm going to change that! Every week I am to plan and organize one craft, plan and prep for snack time, and I'm as of my meeting with Libby, Michelle and Krista on Monday, I am to set weekly goals for myself. I'm not entirely sure what those will be yet, but hey.. I only have four more weeks here. (Excluding Christmas break, of course!)

Since Sunday evening, everyone in the group has been billeting with families in the community! It's pretty radical. But that's a whole other blog, which I'm most likely going to write tonight, because it sounds as though it's going to be a rather quiet night.

Anyways, that's about it for now.

Peace and love world.

a wee little update

November 7th, 2009

6:17am: suddenly awoke the the jabbing pain in my bladder. Apparently I had to pee.
6:25am: Wendy was in the kitchen, whilst I was here in this exact same spot. Wendy starts making smoothies, as I continue to face-creep.
7:00am: The rest of the group trickles out of their slumbers to a table full of extremely oat-bran filled smoothies and yogurt.
7:30am: We slowly make our way out to the van to leave for Prince George.
7:45am: We are all - minus Tomas & Mikael - waiting in the van while they try to lock the door.
7:46am: I realize I have forgotten my ID(fail) and run back into my room to grab it.
7:50am: We are finally off on our way to Prince George.
9:00am: We exictedly arrive in Prince George and continue to head to the Auqatic center to get our swim on.
9:05am: Tristan is lost.
9:10am A kind law enforcment figure helps us to find the correct pool.
9:20am: We are finally at The Auquatic Center.
9:35am: WE ARE IN THE POOL. Pardon me, the hot tub.
11:00am: Robbie and Emily arrive.
11:20am: We proceed to ralley in the waves with a volleyball.
12:00: The diving boards are opened.
1:00: We leave for PG Katimahouse.
1:30am: We are getting ready to leave for Yoga.
2:00am: Yoga is starting.
3:30: Yoga is finished.

Now, I got to lazy to continue to put so much thought into the times and the activities at said times. So I decided to write "normally" now. Yoga was awesome, super relaxing and it smelt nice in the studio. I don't know if the girl to the left of L-A agreed or not. L-A kept shitting herself. It was humerous. Anyways, after yoga we dropped everyone but Jessica, L-A and I off at Value Village while the other 4 of us went to buy Tristan's new boarding boots. And hell, did that take forever or WHAT. Like, I'm talking 45 minutes. It was insane.

After we picked up our thrifty shoppers, we headed to Wal-Mart, and Tim Hortons and then FINALLY started on our way back to the Hoof. I rode shotgun home, which means I'm supposed to stay wide awake and watch for animals or humans, or.. what have you. But incidentally, I fell asleep. It was only for about 10 minutes, but who knows what could happen in ten minutes! Man that highway was crazy dark!

Anyways. The point to my strangely written blog, was that yesterday was an awesome day. Swimming was ridiculously fun and we all loved the second last visit from Robbie :(. Also, I think it was a well deserved trip out of the hoof. Everyone loved it and I'm hoping that we do it again relitively soon!

Anywhazzle, I'm off to venture with L-A for envelopes.
Much love world.

I've just come to notice..

That the first and last picture's description are swapped.
(just figure it our for yourself)

PROcrastinator

You heard me ladies and gents..pro-crastinator.
Here is a list of things that I am currently putting off. Until when? Who knows.
  • Picking my laundry up from around my bed (I'm sure my room mates are loving the mess)Writing more letters home to my dear, dear friends.
  • Writing even more letters to my parents and brothers
  • Practicing mon francais.
  • And, typing up flip charts from the harvest dinner

Basically, living with 10 other people, working two jobs, organizing big events and trying to keep sane makes it almost impossible to do this stuff.

On the other hand, here are some pictures from recent things.

Jessica, Fred & Andreanne being beautiful wiht bloody hands.

Don't have these back home. ( Not the greatest mountains, but they'll do)

Fred bowling. It was a pretty epic time. Shoshana had a first time win.
That is all, thanks and such.
Goodnight World.

Katimawhat..

Today is November first, therefore; yesterday was October 31st. Meaning only one thing..Halloween.

Now, I've been residing in Vanderhoof for just 6 days shy of a month, but one thing that I - amongst my whole group - have noticed is that Vanderhoof is an incredibly religious village. Which strikes up the question "Why is Halloween such a thought through holiday here?" I mean, come on.

Our group spent the majority of yesterday setting up for The Great Pumpkin Walk. Which is basically an event with 500 pumpkins, 14 bonfires, halloween music, and a thousand or so people coming to walk the trail of a camp site, whislt trick-or-treating with their young ones. (Or in our case, 11 young adults ranging from 17-24)

In the mid afternoon, we all walked down to Riverside Park, where we we're forced to unload 481 pumpkins from a freezing cold transport trailer, into an even smaller furniture moving truck. Next, we drove the trail, and placed all 481 pumpkins a foot and a half apart from eachother. It was rather evident that there was maybe two of us who were'nt utterly pissed off. (sorry - aggrivated.. we've stopped the use of offensive language) However, as night fell and we all changed into our costumes, we got plenty of strange looks, hilarious comments, and tons of awesome candy. I'd say it was a successful night to end a crap-tastic day.

Oh also, my lungs crapped out on me and I found myself gasping for tiny breaths.
It was a fail.

Happy November, everyone. Bring on billeting.

Epic fail.

Three cups of liquidized mayo..

Enough said.

good day to you, sirs.
